      About the event

      Our walking group resumes as of Thursday 1st September. They will run on a Thursday morning from 10.30am on a fortnightly basis.

      This week we will be meeting at the Quayside Wetherspoons and walking along the Quayside to the Cycle Hub.

      The walks vary at different locations each week but always end with a well-earned cuppa in a café.

      The walks are weather dependent so please contact the office if you are interested in joining.

      Our fortnightly outing for our walking group. Please note that the walks are weather dependent.

      Location - We will meet at the Quayside Wetherspoons at 10.30am and walk along the Quayside to the Cycle Hub where we will end the walk with a refreshment.

      About the event

      This is our first Macular group meeting after the summer break.

      Our speaker this month will be SEARCH who are a long-established local community charity who support older people and those affected by dementia in the west of Newcastle.

      They aim to help older people, aged 50 or over, to have happy, healthy, and interesting lives through the work it does, running a variety of activities that are free or low cost.

      The meeting starts at 1.30pm. Refreshments are available from 1.15pm. Subsidised taxis are also available for £6.00 per journey, if required.

      About the event

      This is our first CU Wednesday meeting after the summer break.

      Our speaker this month is Beverly Green from Age UK. Beverly is coming to talk about Newcastle Reconnects, a small day centre that Age UK Gateshead run. It is a clinical commissioned group (CCG) and they support people living in the West of Newcastle living with significant health issues.

      The meeting starts at 1.30pm. Refreshments are available from 1.15pm. Subsidised taxis are also available for £6.00 per journey, if required.

      About the event

      Speaker: Healthwatch Newcastle - Jay Conlon, Engagement & Involvement Officer.

      Healthwatch Newcastle is an independent not-for-profit organisation. They help all parts of the community have a say about social care and health services in Newcastle upon Tyne, including people who sometimes struggle to be heard. They work to make sure that the people who plan and run social care and health services listen to service users and use this information to improve services.

      Healthwatch hope to meet the Mac Group to gather some views on how you feel that their services work for you, if there are any barriers you face in terms of treatments, and if there are any issues that Healthwatch can work with you on a survey for.

      The meeting will take place in the Auditorium on the ground floor of MEA House from 1.30pm until 3pm. Refreshments are available. Subsidised taxis are also available for £6.00 per journey.

      About the event

      Our final CU Wednesday for 2022 will take place on Wednesday 30th November at 1.30pm in the Auditorium on the ground floor of MEA House.

      Our speaker will be David Hastings from RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).

      He will be giving a talk on "Wooden Boats And Iron Men”. How Tragedy, Bravery and Generosity have shaped the RNLI to what it is today!

      An inspirational history of lifesaving at sea and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution from 1790 to the present day and how volunteers have braved all weathers and shown immense courage to save over 143,000 lives.

      The meeting starts at the usual time of 1.30pm, refreshments and subsidised taxis are available as usual.

      About the event

      This week our walking group will be going on a guided tour of the Hatton Art Gallery.

      The tour will be followed by refreshments at the The Grand Coffee shop.

      Please note that the guided tour will start at 10.30am prompt. If you are interested in coming along please call the office on 0191 232 7292 and speak to Beth to book your place.

      This will be the final outing for the walking group for 2022. The group will resume as usual in January 2023.
