  Our CU Wednesday Group this month will take place on Wednesday 21st January. This month our guest speaker is Heather Niven. Heather was the manager of Newcastle Vision Support for many years, when it was formally known as Newcastle Society for Blind People. Heather also played a vital role in fundraising for the charity and ran our popular Mac group. Heather will be speaking about her time at Newcastle Vision Support, the Sensory Garden and Bobby Robson.

  The meeting will take place in the activity room located within our office at Northumberland House. As always we will provide some light refreshments. Please let us know if you are able to attend by calling 0191 232 7292..

  Our Walking Group meets fortnightly on a Thursday morning. The next walk will be on Thursday 12th February at 10.30am.

  The group will be setting off from The Cycle Hub, walking along the Ouseburn and ending at Byker Farm. There will be the opportunity for refreshments at the end of the walk.

  This walk is suitable for all abilities and there are plenty of opportunities for rest breaks.

  Our guest speaker will be Liz Finch from the National Trust. She will be giving a talk all about Seaton Delaval Hall. Liz will be talking about the dramatic history of the building, and the incredible work being done to preserve it for future generations. Don't miss this wonderful chance to learn more about one of our region’s most iconic places.

• Lit and Phil – Classical Music Performances

  About the event

  We have spaces available for Classical Music performances at the Lit and Phil Library in Newcastle City Centre. The performances run on select Fridays from 1pm until 2pm. We will be meeting at 12.30pm for optional refreshments before the performance. The performance lasts 1 hour from 1pm until 2pm.

  The performance on Friday 10th April will be Adam Johnson (Pianist). For further information about Adam's performance please click here .

  The concerts are free to attend. Places are on a first come first served basis. Please contact the office on 0191 232 7292 to book a space. We can also offer subsidised taxis for paid-up members both to and from the venue. Members of staff from Newcastle Vision Support will be there to support any attendees.

  The group will be set off from their location at 10.30am, walk along the Quayside to the Cycle Hub where they will end with a coffee.

  Our Chair Based Yoga class focuses on relaxation and stress management. This group is suitable for all abilities. It is chair-based yoga (no need for leotards and no rolling around on the floor!). This group runs during term time only and there is a £35.00 fee for each term (10 weeks). This payment covers the cost of employing qualified instructor – no money comes to Newcastle Vision Support.

  About the event

  We have spaces available for Classical Music performances at the Lit and Phil Library in Newcastle City Centre. The performances run on select Fridays from 1pm until 2pm. We will be meeting at 12.30pm for optional refreshments before the performance. The performance lasts 1 hour from 1pm until 2pm.

  The performance on Friday 3rd July will be a the Da Vinci Quartet which consists of (Iona Brown, violin, Jane Nossek, violin, Mike Gerrard, viola, Gabriel Waite, cello). For further information about the performance please click here .

  The concerts are free to attend. Places are on a first come first served basis. Please contact the office on 0191 232 7292 to book a space. We can also offer subsidised taxis for paid-up members both to and from the venue. Members of staff from Newcastle Vision Support will be there to support any attendees.

  Our Walking Group meets fortnightly on a Thursday morning. The next walk will be on Thursday 30th July at 10.30am.

  The group will be meeting at Quayside Wetherspoons (NE1 3RN) and walking to Liosi's Italian Café Bar (NE4 7YL) where they will end the walk with a well deserved refreshment.

  What to expect:

  • Our chair exercise instructor, Andre, will be giving a introductory session to chair exercise.
  • Demonstrations of assistive technology and daily living equipment such as Meta Glasses, Alexa, Liquid Level Indicstors and more.
  • Speak to our activity coordinators to find out more about the inclusive groups and classes that we provide.
  • Refreshments - enjoy a cuppa and a sweet treat and have a chat with our team.
