A few days before our Anniversary Tea on 30th June 2017 our Chair  Lisa Charlton and our then Empowerment Officer were interviewed by  Radio Newcastle and  here it is to play as a sound file below

On the day of the Anniversary Tea they were also interviewed by Made in Tyne and Wear. This is a link to the You Tube video

Newcastle Vision Support member Dorothy McMahon was part of our centenary celebrations in 1967 . Fifty years later she very kindly agreed to perform a set of piano pieces in reception at the Copthorne to accompany people as they arrived. Please note the video camera gets moved at one point by a person who didn’t realise the machine was active . We hope it doesn’t detract from your enjoyment. Lisa made a speech at the tea. This is a link to the video of the speech.

Conference

On 24th July 2017 , our 150th Anniversary conference , “Learn from the Past to Look to the Future”  looked at issues raised in researching the history of blindness both locally and nationally and what these could teach us to work together to improve visually impaired people’s lives now . A follow up event is promised for later in the year.
